Florence and Pisa
Another tour, another excursion! Brace yourselves, today we’re taking you to Florence and Pisa!
Everything is ready for our departure from the Cruise Terminal of the port of La Spezia, and the next stop is one of the great wonders of Italy: Florence!
Every corner of this beautiful city has centuries upon centuries of history to recount and, thanks to our guide, we will set out to discover a place that has been the heartland of artistic, cultural and political vitality for many, many years.
Our walk starts from the centre of Florence, more precisely from the majestic Cathedral. Its real name is the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and it holds the ultimate symbol of Florence: Brunelleschi’s Dome, with an incredible 3600 square-metre fresco!
As we continue our tour, we reach another famous part of the city, Piazza della Signoria. This is home to the Palazzo Vecchio, a splendid example of fourteenth-century architecture!
Look up at the façade and you’ll see the painted coats of arms, symbols of the different political families in the fourteenth-century Florentine Republic.
Our walk continues, and in front of us you see yet another of the masterpieces that Florence is brimming with: the Ponte Vecchio.
We are overlooking the Arno and before us is a row of little artisanal shops interrupted only by two panoramic terraces.
The last leg of this first part of the trip is Piazza Santa Croce and its Basilica, home to the remains of Michelangelo, Galileo and Machiavelli.
After dozens and dozens of photos of this magical city, it’s time to hit the road again – the wonders don’t end here: Pisa, here we come!
For this second part of the day trip, we have a little more freedom and decide to visit the famous “Piazza dei Miracoli”, which includes the Cathedral, the Baptistery, the Cemetery and the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa!
Yes, we admit it, we too have been caught posing for bizarre photos at the foot of the Tower and we’re sure that we’ll remember this day for years to come!
The day has come to an end, we head back towards La Spezia and say goodbye to our travel group – see you soon!

On our way back, we will visit an olive oil mill, Frantoio Lucchi e Guastalli, a spectacular location with thousands of years of history surrounded by beautiful greenery.
After stopping for a few minutes to admire the truly jaw-dropping views, we dedicate our stop-over to a visit of the mill and a tasting of oils and typical local products: a real treat for the senses!
