Taking you on a journey to discover Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance!
Our group of day trippers will leave from the Cruise Terminal of the port of La Spezia, where a coach is ready and waiting to take us to: Florence!
We are on the road and can’t wait to reach our destination to take in all the wonders of this city – just enough time for a quick chat and we’re there!
The trip scheduled for today will allow us to discover the city along with our guide, but there is also some free time for us to explore whatever we’d like to.
History speaks through the splendid monuments that we encounter as we walk along; here, the art, culture and politics of a bygone era are still very much alive and telling their story through these historic symbols.
Piazza del Duomo is home to the splendid Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, a breathtaking architectural work built between the Gothic and Renaissance periods and the location of the famous Brunelleschi’s Dome!
And now it’s time for Piazza della Signoria, where we find the Palazzo Vecchio, with its coats of arms painted on the façade, symbols of the fourteenth-century politics of the Florentine Republic.
Of course, how could we overlook the picturesque Ponte Vecchio, the only survivor of the destruction of Florence’s historic bridges during World War II.
We conclude this whirlwind of art in Piazza Santa Croce, where we can admire the Basilica of the same name, home to the remains of Michelangelo, Galileo and Machiavelli.
Before returning to our coach, we treat ourselves to a few minutes of shopping and sampling local delicacies. See you again soon, Florence!
