Bolgheri and Castagneto Carducci

Today, we will take you on a trip to discover villages far removed from mass tourism: Bolgheri and Castagneto Carducci!

We depart from the Cruise Terminal of the port of La Spezia and head towards our first stop: Bolgheri. This fantastic medieval village lies at the heart of the Livornese Maremma.

We reach the medieval castle by taking the scenic Viale dei Cipressi, which features in the poem “Davanti San Guido” by Giosuè Carducci.

Every corner gives us evocative visuals, and from the top of a panoramic terrace, a truly breathtaking view of the surrounding countryside unfolds before our very eyes.

Just remember to not leave Bolgheri without buying a bottle of local wine first!

Our second destination for the day is Castagneto Carducci, a village in the heart of the so-called costa degli Etruschi and that has developed around the Castle of the Gherardesca.

We will stroll down cobbled lanes, taking in natural terraces that overlook the sea and the countryside.

Now at the end of our tour, our guide has a surprise for us: wine and oil tasting at the local wineries!
